Spring is finally here! It is the time of year to clean out your closets, reorganize those drawers, and throw out junk. What better time to start cleaning your beauty routine?! Women put an average of 515 chemicals on their bodies every single day. Now, I know you probably skimmed that, so I will repeat, women put an average of 515 chemicals on their bodies every single day. Ingredients that are common in a lot of cosmetics and skin care products can mess up your hormones and have been linked to an increased risk of cancer. The good news is that it is easy to change that number to a much lower one.
The best way to start to clean out your beauty routine is to begin with what stays on your skin the longest. This would be moisturizers and serums since they are meant to penetrate into your skin deeply. Skin is the body's largest organ so it is incredibly important that you take care of it with products that aren't laden with chemicals. I would then move on to foundations or concealer.
Replace products as you run out. You don't need to buy everything all at once that can be both overwhelming and expensive. Buying natural products is so much easier than it used to be. There are so many gorgeous brands now. To help you get started here is a list of my favorite natural beauty products...
Enliven Cleansing Oil
Glow Facial Serum
Mermaid Waves Sea Salt Texturizing Spray
Coconut or Avocado Oil for body moisturizer
RMS Un-Cover Up
ILIA Beauty multi stick in Tenderly for blush, lipstick, and eye-shadow
W3LL People Expressionist Bio Extreme Mascara
Burt's Bees Lip Balm
I strongly suggest that you do your research when switching to green products. Read the ingredients carefully and know what you are putting on your skin.
Good luck in your cleaning!
