You’re in high school. You think life is pretty great. Things are good on the outside. On the inside though, you look in the mirror and aren’t happy with what you see. The daily struggle of trying to look “good” is ongoing and will be, but eventually you will look in the mirror and love yourself. You’ll be able to put yourself in front of the camera, look at yourself, and smile. You’ll have days when you look in the mirror and love what you see – and those days will be the best days and the only days you feel good. But that won’t be the case forever. You won’t feel empty and despite what you think, you are beautiful.
You’re life is going to be so different and you don’t even know it yet. I mean this in a good way. I don’t want to scare you, but you will start the last day of winter break before you graduate on the ski hill and end it in the hospital, but you’re okay, and you’re still healing mentally. You’re last few months of high school are going to be amazing and emotionally exhausting. Friendships, one in particular, will crumble but it will be so much better for you in the end. You will know you tried with all of yourself to save it and try and understand why they shut you out, but you won’t. But the friends that are real will still be there for you. You will have people come into your life and they will be genuine and become family, they will tell you how beautiful you are, they will support you, and they will make you so happy.
You will meet the love of your life (yes, you won’t be single forever like you thought!!!) He will be your biggest fan, make you laugh the hardest, smile the biggest, show you that love is the best and the hardest thing on this planet, and he knows you better than you know yourself – he just gets you. It’s a pretty great journey.
You will figure out your passion, and pursue it. It’s going to be the best thing to happen to you. You will have a plan after graduation. You’ll go to university and it will turn out to be the worst decision for your mental health. But you’ll get through it and you’ll be so happy with the next step. You will continue with your education, but your passion will be at the forefront of it. You’re actually about to graduate and have accomplished so much, you’ve travelled to Los Angeles, Florida, and Toronto because of your passion, and you’ve figured out a love for style blogging and fashion photography.
Every bad day, every good day, and every decision you’ve made has brought you to this place. You’re moving out, starting a full time photography job, have learned about this thing called self-care (which is so magical). You’ll still have days where loving yourself is hard but you’ll finally be able to look in the mirror everyday and love who you are.
