I love this time of year. Big chunky sweaters, scarves, boots, tea, and more downtime. Don't get me wrong, I love the summertime, but by the end of it I am usually ready for the Fall. In the summer there is always events and gathering that you don't want to miss. It's pretty easy to burn the candle at both ends for fear of missing out. In the Fall, everyone just sort of settles down and hibernates a little, and I don't know about you, but I am all for it!
When you are on the go all the time, it takes it's toll on your health. Most likely your eating habits aren't the best, you can't squeeze in your workouts, and you don't have time for yourself. You don't get the downtime that you desperately need. Downtime to me is so important. Without it, my mood is off and my goals are unclear and I am stressed. We all know that stress is bad for your skin, but really it's bad for your entire well being. Downtime allows you to recharge and refocus. Here are some of my favourite ways to spend my downtime.
Sip your troubles away: I love to sit down with a cup of tea or hot cacao while listening to something relaxing and just focus on my breathing.
Write it out: Keeping a journal is so good for the soul! When I get busy, my journal is something that I tend to ignore. Keeping a journal helps me keep my goals in check and if i'm stressed it helps me figure out the cause.
Tub time: Is there anything better than having a nice hot bath when the weather turns a little colder. I love using Epsom salt and some drops of essential oils to make it extra relaxing. I also like to use the Belle Body Love Scrub to exfoliate.
Netflix and chill: I know I am not the only one who like to relax on the couch and watch one of my favourite shows or movies. Anything by Nora Ephron is good for me! Gilmore Girls and Scandal are some shows that get's re-watched over and over at my house.
Stretch: Downtime=downward facing dog. Slow down, catch your breath, and stretch it out. I love to do some gentle yoga when I have some downtime. It always makes me feel good.
Downtime is so incredibly important. For the sake of your health, take a beat, settle down, and enjoy a little downtime.
How do you like to spend your downtime?

Alyssa
