This time of year can be really tough. It's dark when you wake up and dark when you get home. You feel like your bed is calling you as soon as you get in the door and all you want to want to eat is mac n'cheese. I get it, the struggle is real. Some people are not only tired due to the time change but the lack of sunshine makes them feel down. Here are 5 simple tricks to beat the daylight saving time blues:
1) Rest.
I know this might sound a little off, because you don't want to sleep all the time, but I am a huge fan of listening to your body. Honestly, if your feeling extremely tired your body might just be telling you to slow the heck down and rest.
2) Take some vitamins.
This time of year I add a few things into my vitamin routine to ensure that I am getting everything I need. The most important to me right now is Vitamin D3. You guys, this will make a huge difference. I like to also really enjoy Serenity Formula by Natural Factors. This is great for helping with anxiety!
3) Wake up early and go to bed early.
It's pretty simple, waking up earlier will ensure that you see some more daylight. It also sets you up for a more productive day.
4) Move that beautiful bod.
A bonus to getting up early is that you feel like you have extra time (even though you are totally spending your night watching Netflix and going to bed early) so try to get your workout done first thing. I am not saying to do super intense workout, you need to listen to your body. This time of year I don't crave hardcore, super sweaty workouts, so instead I like to do some yoga, pilates, and as always walk Belle (our pup).
5) Get cozy and feel all the feels.
Light some candles, curl up under a blanket, sip on your favourite tea, or run a bath. Journal. And not just the good stuff. Get out how you really feel. Get reflective on what's working in your life and what isn't. Be honest with yourself and make a game plan to change what you need to. I am a very sensitive person and honestly really do feel all the feels all the time, but I really need to remind myself to think about what all the feeling mean and why I am feeling them.
BONUS TIP: Get some Orange essential oil. It will help you feel instantly refreshed.
