I have heard a lot of people say that they are terrified to wash their skin with oil, and you know what that is okay, especially if you don't know much about the oil cleansing method. Face your fears babe, oil cleansing is a lovely and luxurious way to cleanse your skin without stripping away all of your skin's natural oils. Now, that being said. It won't work for everyone. If you have extremely sensitive skin, you may want to contact a dermatologist to see what is best for you.
People often have a hard time with the oil cleansing method when they try a DIY version. There are a few reasons for this. 1) DIY oil cleansers often contain castor oil. There is nothing wrong with castor oil, but it is very strong and should not be used undiluted directly onto skin, so it needs to be blended with another carrier oil. This can make it difficult to determine the right blend for your skin, and needs time for trial and error. We choose not to use castor oil due to it' unsustainable growing practices. 2) If you are making a DIY oil blend for yourself, you may choose to purchase some cheaper oils which are not cold pressed. Always choose cold pressed oils. Always. 3) Many posts we see explaining the oil cleansing method tell you to steam the oil off your face by applying an extremely hot face cloth directly to your skin. Please do not do this. Using extremely hot water directly on your skin can actually strip the natural oils off of your skin, and scald the skin. This can cause a lot of aggravation, which is not what you want when cleansing. Below are our tips and tricks for using the oil cleansing method successfully!
